It was 9pm at night and I was doing my usual, strolling through the internet, reading up on the latest news, checking out my facebook news feed when I noticed the oddest thing; I saw a friend of mine joined the group:

“Petition to Get Rid of “is” from Facebook Status Update!”

79,280 members and growing….

Now the question is will Facebook product designers actually take notice of this group and implement a change.

If this trend continues we have to wonder, will web 2.0 companies like facebook need designers at all? With such an amazing communication platform maybe it’s time for the masses to begin making design decisions together, after all, aren’t we the ones using this stuff in the end?

A novel concept, but with a new level of sophistication and creativity being bred among our “web 2.0 generation” , the idea of the masses designing the tools we use shouldn’t be completely crazy should it?

But then again, to play devils advocate, when we are given the option of designing our own websites we make very interesting choices…..take a look at some of your friends MySpace pages and the evidence will speak for itself
